The Game

Fast. Fun. Pick up and play.

Hoodlin Rumble is a collectible card game built around one core promise, anyone can sit down and play.

Each player brings four Hoodlins to the match. Both players draw from a shared 60-card deck, keeping every game unpredictable and every session fresh.

My Role

End-to-end, from concept to market.

As Game Director, Co-Creator, and Product Developer, I contributed to the full arc of Hoodlin Rumble, from designing and balancing the rulebook to directing the commercial strategy that brought it in front of real players.

Game Design & Systems

Led end-to-end development of the tabletop card game from concept to market. Designed the rulebook and balanced core gameplay systems through multiple rounds of structured playtesting.

Product Strategy & Commercialization

Directed product strategy across Kickstarter execution, manufacturing planning, distribution strategy, and long-term growth projections for the IP.

Live Demo & IP Validation

Validated gameplay and expanded IP positioning through live demos at major conventions, refining systems in real time based on direct player feedback.

How It Plays -

Shared Deck

Both players draw from one 60-card pool, no deck-building barrier, immediate accessibility, and built-in unpredictability every game.

Hoodlin Selection

Each player brings 4 Hoodlins to the match. Your lineup is your identity, choose the four that match your playstyle.

Simple rules. Real decisions.

Hoodlin Rumble is designed so that the barrier to entry is as low as possible without sacrificing the depth that keeps players coming back. The shared deck format means both players are working with the same card pool the difference is always in how you play them.

Each player selects four Hoodlins before the match, creating a natural moment of strategy before a single card is drawn. From there, the game rewards reading your opponent, managing your resources, and knowing when to push.

Elimination Format

Eliminate all of your opponent's Hoodlins to win. Clean objective, dynamic pacing, and naturally escalating tension as the match progresses.

Strategic Decision-Making

Easy to learn, genuinely strategic to master. Every turn presents real choices that reward players who think ahead.

Live Demos & Validation

Taking it to the players.

The best playtesting happens with strangers. I brought Hoodlin Rumble to conventions, game stores, and university events across Southern California, running live demos that put the game in front of players who had never heard of it before, and using their real-time reactions to refine the rules, pacing, and feel of every session.

Each event was a structured feedback loop: set up, demo, observe, adjust. The game you see now is shaped by hundreds of those moments.

What's Next

The game is ready. The community is next.

Hoodlin Rumble has been playtested, demoed, and refined. The next phase is growth, expanding the card set, building the player community, and exploring distribution pathways that get the game into more hands.

The IP has room to grow: new Hoodlins, new mechanics, and a universe of characters that players are already excited about. The foundation is solid. The next step is scale.
